Germs in Your Mouth
You probably know that there are germs everywhere, but would you be surprised to learn that some people introduce more germs into their mouth than they need to? Sadly, it’s a fact: germs are often introduced into the mouth during brushing. Naturally, avoiding these extra germs can help you keep your smile healthy.
One thing you can do to fight off germs is care for your tooth brush properly. This means you should take a few minutes to rinse your toothbrush off each time you use to wash away germs, bacteria, and food particles. Also, you should store your toothbrush upright in an open area. This will give your brush adequate time to dry and prevent contact with more germs. Similarly, to avoid cross contamination, please don’t share your toothbrush with anyone else. Finally, it is important to replace your toothbrush every three or four months, regardless of how well you care for it.
Also, as you may know, your hands are the dirtiest part of your body. This means that you could be unintentionally spreading germs into your smile while you brush and floss your teeth. A simple way to care for this problem is to simply brush your hands before caring for your teeth. This is especially important for flossing because, with proper form, your fingers will hit your teeth.
